I know it’s been over a week since I’ve posted, but I promise I have been busy.
There’s a few things I’ve been working on but one has had me really excited.
You see…I’ve had my eye on this for a while now:
But geezh…they want an arm and a leg for it. So what’s a girl to do?
Well…this girl starts to think about a picture she received from her oldest for Christmas last year. He found it while out thrift shopping (Yay! Raised him right!). It was a pretty picture but I wasn’t to sure what I would do with it or where I would put it. I loved the picture but the one thing that I really loved even more was the frame.
It was a good solid frame. Thick, sturdy and the perfect size.
And then this girl has the best idea ever!
So the frame was yellow. Bright yellow. (sorry…forgot to take a before pic). The picture was pretty too but I was about to make it better.
I sanded it down and sprayed it with kiltz. I wasn’t worried about getting it on the picture because I was covering it up anyway. I then mixed up some chalk paint and painted it white. Now the fun part. I taped the frame off because I’m terrible with a paint brush. I took my chalkboard paint (but you already knew that didn’t you?) and started painting the picture.
After three coats it was instant love.
I also found a scrolly thingy at Lowe’s. It was a cream color so I painted it white.
While the scrolly thingy was drying, I prepared my chalkboard by rubbing chalk all over it. The writing won’t burnish into the paint if you prep it first like this.
I was finally able to glue my scrolly thingy on the top. Gosh I hope it stays. Oh well…
I then distressed them both by rubbing them down with sand paper. I don’t know what grit. I just know it worked. Whatever.
And there she is.
I know it’s a she because she’s so pretty.
She might be hanging just a tad crooked.
Either that or my camera was crooked. I’m no photographer.
But I love her.
I love her a lot.
And apparently, I’m no writer either because my penmanship is terrible. I should probably fix that.
