When I saw this kitchen mat it was immediate love. But $75.00?!?! I don’t think so. And neither did the hubs.
And then I found this:
Um….hello. I can totally do that. So off to Wal-Mart I went.
I found the mats in two different sizes. Of course I bought 2 big ones and several smaller ones.
I followed the tutorial above almost perfectly except we know how impatient I am.
I might have omitted one or two steps. But whatever.
First I created my template in MS Word, cut it out and taped it in place on my mat.
I then started at the bottom and using the chalk method I turned each template over and outlined the back with the chalk.
You can’t really see the chalk here but we’ll just pretend you can.
Then I flipped the template back down and traced over the words with a pen cap.
You can now see the chalk outline of the words (told you it was there).
Using a white paint pen, I simply just traced over the chalk.
These mats have some grooves in them so I went back over it twice and was left with this:
I added a border and after everything was dry, I wiped her down with a Clorox wipe.
I then sprayed her with several coats of clear acrylic sealer.
And here she is in my kitchen:
I cannot even begin to tell you how happy I am with this kitchen floor mat.
This project was so easy and much more reasonable than $75.00, so I decided to make a few more.
I love love love my new kitchen floor mats.
And my feet are oh so happy now.
