My blogging has been a little slack lately and I apologize for that.
With the kids out of school it seems I barely have time to do anything anymore.
I did however, have time to make a few more kitchen mats.
These mats I gave to my mother-in-law and my mom for Mother’s Day.
I’ll give a quick tutorial here but if you want to read more in detail you can do so here.
I did one a brown rug and the other a black rug. They were the same size as my original happy feet post above.
I created a template in Photoshop and then uploaded the pic to block posters.
If you don’t know about block posters, then you’re missing out. It’s so simple and a lot of fun.
I taped my masterpiece together then placed it on my mat.
I taped the top portion down and then flipped it over and covered the back with chalk.
Once completely covered in chalk, I used the tip of pen and traced the words which transferred the chalk to the mat.
Once my letters were transferred, I traced an outline of the letters with a paint pen.
After it dried, I filled them in with acrylic paint.
I let it dry completely and then sprayed it a few times with Polyacrylic in a satin finish.
I gave this one to my mother-in-law.
She loved it so much she cried.
I always have a way of making people cry.
Sometimes that’s a good thing.
Sometimes not so good.
Oh well. Whatever.
She didn’t cry.
She probably wanted to but I haven’t seen her cry too much in my lifetime.
It could be hormonal.
Or the kids being here 24/7 during the summer.
I’m voting the latter.
Love your talent!
Thanks!
